Is Rage of Egypt the same as Hand of Anubis?

Mechanically, yes. Both are Hacksaw Gaming titles built on one engine, and we found no gameplay difference at all.

You win by landing 5 or more connecting symbols of the same kind anywhere on the 5x6 grid. Winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in, so a single spin can cascade several times.

The base game feature is identical in both. Red and blue Soul Orbs land as Wilds and absorb power from every cluster win in the round. The red orb gains +1x for each symbol in every cluster win. The blue orb gains +1x for each winning cluster. Multipliers reset each round, and if both orbs connect to a winning cluster their multipliers multiply each other rather than add.

The paytable matches line for line. Low symbols pay 0.20, 0.40, 0.60, 1.00, 4.00, 15.00 and 30.00 at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11-plus symbols. High symbols top out at 40.00, 40.00, 80.00, 80.00 and 120.00 at 11-plus. Bet levels run from €0.10 to €2,000 on both, and feature buys can go above that ceiling.

A 97.49% RTP slot is unusual for the studio. What do the Soul Orbs, Underworld and Judgment bonuses do?

Both games run the same two bonuses, triggered by Free Spins scatters. Three scatters gives you Underworld. Four scatters gives you Judgment.

Underworld is 10 free spins with a green Soul Orb and a multiplier modifier symbol in play. Each reel carries a multiplier below it that gains +1x for every winning symbol on that reel. Modifier symbols are worth x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10. Once activated, the multipliers are global, so they add together and then multiply every winning cluster. Each activation also awards 3 extra spins, and a single multiplier can reach 9999.

Judgment is a 3 refilling spins round where the normal symbols are replaced by block symbols and the multipliers sit above each reel. Adding modifiers, the Skull and Epic Skull, are worth 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x or 100x. Multiplying modifiers, the Anubis Skull and Epic Anubis Skull, are worth x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10. Ice blocks get crushed and a Multiplier Block drops in behind them. A Crusher Block destroys every Multiplier Block in its path and becomes their combined value. Any block landing resets the spins back to 3, and the round ends after 3 spins with no new block. Your payout is the sum of all Multiplier Blocks multiplied by your bet level.

Word for word, that is the same feature set in both games. Only the reel weighting under the hood differs, and that is what produces the different return.
